Can anyone help... My dad whos live in PDC has no landline without paying big fees to put one in he wants an internet connection to talk to the family overseas in UK what is the cheapest portability option he has without renting out mobile connections as that cost would be too big... have you guys got 'Dongle' over there yet and if so how does it work and is this cheapest option... please help.. and where are the free wireless connections in PDC for him to use if not... does the biosphere have a connection...thanks!! Debbie p.s he is 72, very clever but doesnot want the hassle of too much techy stuff cos he is chillin over there!

Yes a dongle with unlimited usage for about 40E per month. Vodaphone shop on ground floor of Biosfera will sort this for him. Go down the escalator, and turn left at the big bear... it's tucked in the corner. He'll need to bring his Spanish bank details with him for direct debit - formal proof like a card or bank statement.

But what he should do first is test a friends... or test a mobile for strength of connection before he signs up to an 18 months contract. Signals vary, and even between homes in the same street. We found this ourselves. In our old place, everything worked at high speed which is great for Skype etc. However, in the new place Orange and Movistar were next to useless. We went with Vodaphone in the end... but don't get ADSL speeds. Hopefully he'll get better reception in PdC - but definitely worth him testing before committing.

Alternatively - tell him to make himself known at Jaspar's Bar - Sue has free wifi for customers there... so if he popped in for a cuppa (or whatever) then he could use theirs.
