Playa Flamingo beach at Playa Blanca

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Playa Flamingo. Whilst we were there, a big sign was put up by the Government saying that the work was about to start on repairing the breakwaters which were damaged in the big storm a few years ago. On talking to some locals they said the work was expected to last about five months - but time is quite flexible in Spain isn't it?

We have provisionally booked to return in March next year, but wondered if anyone had any local knowledge, as we have read on the Tripadvisor forum that Thomson Holidays are telling their clients that the beach is being closed down whilst the work goes on. Does anyone know if this is true? I realise that there must be disruption for such a large project, but hadn't heard that the beach would be totally closed.

Would be glad for any advice.
