In your opinion What is the best restaurant in PDC?

I would say from my experience the "Casa Puerto" in the old town.

I don't think you are starting from a very high point in the first place!

There are no restaurants in PDC that are better than average - certainly none that you would come specially to go from.

I would say there are several in the harbour that are above average to good (can't remember the names sorry!!!) but if you are prepared to go 15 mins or so out of PDC far better places for a special night.

Yeh,Will is right on this one. I dont know of any one place that has the magic for a special night in PDC. Miles better places for a meal.

OK specially for you English Bob..............

There's this place on the strip, it kind of has these curved, yellow, perhaps golden coloured arches. Its name may suggest a Scottish tradition. Perhaps you've been before.

Anyway its just the place for ignorant, overweight, humourless, tasteless, illiterate chavvy English t*ssers like you Bob who wouldn't know a decent meal if it cooked itself in front of you and shouted eat me you clueless git I'm tasty.

"you tossers, the two of you are right arrogant twats" - potential, if not already, ex-pat here then?

NO RESTAURANTS IN PDC THAT ARE BETTER THAN AVERAGE....???? have you lot been out blindfolded and had youre tastebuds surgically removed,or do you just pretend to know puerto del carmen ?.i could probably fill this page with GOOD,and "ABOVE AVERAGE" restaurants in PDC.Venture out of micky burger or mcdonalds and try some proper places like La Ponderosa,El Quixote,Don Camillo...to name a few on or around the strip..in the old town,Tres Peñas,Puerto Bahia,,Russells, and my personal favoutite...La Cabaña in calle los afrechos, eat a meal in there, tell me its not "ABOVE AVERAGE" ! and ill pay for it.

Calm down Chrissy.

You've obviously not eaten outside of PDC much I assume??

I am talking about places where you would go out of your way to visit just for the food. And there is nowhere in PDC that I would make a journey for. Yes there are lots of decent value or average places but no where I would come from Playa Blanca for specially for a meal.

But:

I would and do for:

Bodega at Uga - which is possibly my fave place anywhere.
La Era in Yaiza (great location but can be variable food)
Lagomar in Nazeret (over rated by the guide books tho)
Emilianos in Femes
THe one with the big blue doors in Arrieta (for lunch tho)
Lago Verde or the one next door in Golfo (not the tourist traps near the volcano)
Pedros in Playa Blanca.

When do I get my free meal Chrissy?

yes will....,stop me if im wrong, but i thought this thread was about restaurants in PDC......yes i have eaten outside of PDC,in fact,in the last 15 YEARS ive probably eaten in all the known (and many superb unknown to most residents or tourists) restaurants on the island.iI agree with what you listed as good restaurants, and highlight the points you made regarding La Era....(four years ago it was great),as was Lag Omar, but think these places have had their best days.
If we are now off the PDC thing, how about Agua Viva in Playa Honda,or La Cabaña in macher, these two places are very special..........

Chrissy,

Quite right !!!

Of course there's loads of good restaurants in PDC.

Will claims he doesn't go to PDC cos he doesn't like it, yet he can categorically state that there are "no restaurants in PDC better than average".

He's got a big PDC chip on his shoulder, or maybe not a chip but a small Gratin Dauphinois ? And to suggest you haven't eaten much outside PDC is just his ludicrous way of self appeasement. You can almost see his nose pointing in the air as he types that rubbish.

Of the restaurants you refer to which I've visited, they are very good, but there's several others as well.

Also, there's La Canada which is excellent also. I think it is (or was ?) the only Lanzarote restaurant to be listed in the Michelin Guide.

La Canada is getting a refit atm. Its an overrated overpriced showpony load of crap. Not worth a visit imo and only location (centre of pdc) make it a popular place.. Saying that any shithole in the centre of PDC is popular because of lacation. There is 100,s no thousands of people who dont care what they eat as long as its near and these places thrive on that clientel.

PDC for dining out is shite full stop if you are a fussy f**ker like me.

Don't know if publicity for La Canada is the same now as it used to be, but a couple of years ago, it said "the place to be seen". Went there a couple of times and food average (for the price rubbish), wine not a bad selection, but staff did not seem to have knowledge of the fine wines.
Place to be seen maybe, but not to dine.

Oh dear PDC's "its not Blackpool honest" apologist at large Ole returns!!!

Ole - you're just bitter that PDC has turned into such a sh*thole since you first started going but due to some bizarre loyalty you seem to want to defend it and hang out with all the chavs.

Fine mate you stay there and keep in touch with your pikey side.

As soon as Playa Blanca goes to the dogs and its getting there I'm outta there. Already checking out Arrieta, Orzola and Fuertevantura for possibilities.

YOu still neatly avoided the question - theres no where in PDC that you would make a journey to - and your only recomendation is currently closed. Good knowledge Ole.

Because majority of expats don't live there I assume.

I don't know why. YOu would have thought the most populous area would have some decent eateries.

In Arrecife, try the Grande Hotel and Castillo - both excellent.
