Most places are open Sarah. Give Jaspars a try. There are 2 ways to get hold of her. One is http//:www.jasparsbarlanzarote.com The other one is on our site (which I cannot adverise on this site) - but either way will get you in contact with Sue.

Have a fantastic Crimbo!

Out of interest - will anywhere in Lanza actually roast a turkey and do a proper roast dinner?! You may guess that I am suspicious of most of the Sunday roasts in lanza on offer for 5 Euros....!!

Most seem to offer good old Berny M's frozen turkey breasts - and those frozen roast potatoes that they just pour out of the bag into the deep fryer don't qualify as a food group in my book!!! And as for the gravy.....

And before anyone starts am doing dinner for twelve tomorrow night - which will involve 4 courses - OK am just buying the cheese - proper gravy and custard - not a powdered sauce in sight - plus am out on the lash tonight and playing football tomorrow afternoon! Those "restaurants" have no excuse!!

LMAO Sarah! Guess your invite got lost, just as ours did.

Will, I too like to make my gravy from scratch. Haven't found cornflour here yet... but there's some arriving with visitors on Thursday. And yes, there'#s a few places that are doing a proper Xmas dinner... compete with hand peeled spuds and veggies, real turkey, and proper stuffing. We're not going out for ours we're going to have roast lamb at home instead... and then don our football shirts and go to a bar showing Sky, and drink overpriced imported beer in the evening. grinning smiley

Flash - I'm nodding winking smiley Thanks honey.

Sarah at this point in time he'll be on the cheese and port, but I reckon he'll agree that having the last word isn't exclusively a man thing!

Sorry ladies - was family only!!

No port - was more brandy, whisky, campari and god knows what else! Not sure how my sister managed to go out till 4 after that lot!

Corn flour in gravy? Doesn't that make it really glutinous? Have you tried just a little plain flour at the start to make a paste elle?

Or just add a ton of red/white wine depending and reduce to make Flash's aforementioned Jus?

Alan - up north normally just get chips peas and gravy 89p i seem to remember - could afford it on the way home out of the tips I got from the pub I worked in - pie was considered luxury!

Yes Will... I use flour normally here because cornflour is more difficult to get on the Island. So yesterday's gravy was done with flour. Used to add the wine too previously... but I'm on a water detox at the moment, so no vino for me winking smiley Aren't I a good girl?

Sarah - haven't seen the fireworks in PDC yet personally... but apparently they're fabulous. Yes, do wait up for them. Jaspars bar that I recommended up there ^^^^ has a balcony, and Sue says the best time to catch them is at around 2am from her place.

Sara, we walked down PDC beach last new years eve afternoon as they were setting them up. It looked more like ordenance than fireworks! you could have fought a small war with the ammount of kit they had on the beach. So I think it would be a fair bet that there's a spectacular display!!
