Forum about Lanzarote

An interesting article in today's La Provincia newspaper.
British tourism to the island fell by 51,000 last year to 740,116, around 6.8%. In order to "get back" those numbers for 2008, the Cablido has sanctioned a campaign which starts 14th January. There will be large posters in many high traffic areas like railway stations and motorway service areas, together with very large screen TV's showing Lanzarote in the 17 largest UK shopping centres, inlcuding The Trafford Centre "the grandest and most modern in all Europe" (!)

I reckon Playa Blanca is doing alright as yesterday telefonica somehow routed the calls for the tourist information centre playa blanca to our office all day and it didnt stop bloody ringing.

A friend of ours said today that every time she reads an article in a British newspaper about winter sun destinations the top of the list is always Lanzarote.

There were certainly loads of Brits around when we were over at christmas.

There was a really good article in the Indie recently (posted on canarynightlife,net) in which I loved the title - "If apple designed an island it would be Lanzarote".

Also, my flight back is now sold out (was just checking the prices to feel smug about booking in June )
