Biker Protest

Found the following in "Residents Corner" on the Gazette today, and thought it was worth sharing. I don't have a bike myself, but many on this island do.
Hugs, Elle xx

Next Wednesday there will be a protest taking place in Arrecife by the motorbike & bike user's of Lanzarote. Our demands are that the Goverments (local, regional & national) protect the road fences that are really dangerous for any biker or even bicycles as they can cause severe injuries and even death at a very low speed impact (36km/h). This causes hundreds of deaths and much more several injured every year, while the authorities just look to the other side. The costs of protecting the fences would be only an increase of a 0.01% of the total cost of a new highway.
For this reason and after failing in trying to reach an agreement with the goverment, bikers from all Spain are joining to protest in many cities. In Lanzarote we are meeting in front of the Cabildo, at the entry of Arrecife, at 12.00, and we are marching by the main streets of Arrecife.

Of course, everyone is welcome, do the majority will be on a motorbike, also bikes & cars are welcome
