Win a fantastic trip on "Submarine Safaris" in Puerto Calero.

All you have to do is visit the new "SARA" Animal Shelter website www.saralanzarote.com and on the home page you will see a picture of a large dog. Decide on a name and send your choice to sarashelter@hotmail.com and you could win this fab prize.

Entries close 12th of June

Come on.......get your thinking caps on.

Oz

The Russell's restaurant owner doesn't form part of SARA but, as you say, he takes in loads of strays and help raise money for SARA. Not too sure if he has any dogs that live in the house and I'm sure that any that do would be his "pets" and probably not up for re-homing if you get my drift. I have got a contact number somewhere I'll try and dig it out.

Alternatively, has your friend actually been up to SARA? There are over 200 to choose from and a good majority have come from homes. They are not all strays and the word "abandoned" doesn't only mean running loose on the streets. Owners "abandon" their pets by giving them up to SARA for various reasons the majority being a house or country change where they can't take animals. Therefore, we have a good choice of dogs that are already house trained that are desperate for a loving home.

Bear in mind that the Russell's owner takes in strays and they run free on his land so might not be house trained. Also, they have a good life there, they are looked after very well and have freedom to run around with other dogs. The dogs at SARA are living four or five to a kennel designed for two and only get out if and when volunteers take them for a walk which, if they are lucky, is about once a week.

I'm not trying to sway you to take one from SARA (well I am actually) but in my mind, they are much more needy than the others as he does a brilliant job. In saying that, I will try and contact him and ask.

There is still over a week to go to get your entries in. I've had a few suggestions but nothing outstanding yet.

You can post your chosen name on here if you would rather.

Right............

I have two names and can't decide.

One is suitable for a male dog and one is suitable for a female.

I am going to put it to a vote :

Do you think the Dalmatian on the first page of our website is male or female??

Ha ha ha ha absolutely barking!

Sorry Coaty - I can't stump up a ticket for Mrs Coatyless - as I lost all my credit cards and cash whilst nipping into the Iberostar to pick up the non-existent wine and flowers you said you left there. Hence it's all your fault!

And yes, apparently it's the only sub on the Island that goes fully under - but it's really spacious... and you'll have a great time.

Here's a link to their website.
